Montreal's THE BESNARD LAKES have quietly been taking my headphones by storm with their profound album "The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse", certain to go down as one of the year's best. The album features contributions from members of STARS, THE DEARS, and GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR and I could compare them to many earlier bands with a haunting, visceral sound, but would rather just let the music speak for itself.
