THE ANTLERS - Two

The Antlers' debut album Hospice is hands down one of the most solid albums of the year. Read our review of the album from back in February. The band just released this impressive animated video for the new single "Two", further strengthening the album's staying power for year-end lists in December.

DAN DEACON - Paddling Ghost

"Paddling Ghost" is taken from Dan Deacon's amazing sophomore LP Bromst, released earlier this year. This video is so fun and amazing. I would definitely lump this into the best video of the year file. Puppets rule.

The Sky Report TV

Check out some of the recent videos uploaded to our YouTube channel - theskyreportTV. The first three clips (Pass Kontrol, Shadowbox, Lady Magma) are taken from our first show, Make Music New York at Northeast Kingdom. It was a stormy outdoor show that got forced into the tiny NK Den. Madness ensued.

THE XX

The XX are taking the blog world by storm and I'm slowly catching on. Here's the lowdown:
"the xx are four precocious 19 year olds from south west london who provide the hushed minimal strokes of young marble giants and early cure but through the minds of a young act obsessed with the r&b turns of ciara and aaliyah, having gone so far as to cover the latter's 'hot like fire' as the b-side for their first single, 'crystalised' and having first been picked up after recording a sensational version of womak and womak's 'teardrops'. having signed to xl sub-label young turks earlier in the year the band begun to record with a host of the finest producers going, including brazilian giant diplo and up-and-coming hotshot kwes the four eventually settled with the option of recording at xl's in-house studio, with 'xx' eventually produced by the band themselves. this is a inspired, broken and uplifting record, packed with melancholic charms that recalls the suburban disillusion of the previous burial records and portishead's 'dummy'. this is a remarkable debut record from a remarkable new act." -rough trade
Now, judge for yourself. Here's the new video for "Basic Space", followed by the previous "Crystalised".

GOSSIP - Love Long Distance

Gossip's new album Music For Men turns out to be much better than I expected. Sure, it's far more polished and produced than anything the band has done before, but once you get past the new "pop" element they're working, it turns out to be a solid, fun album. "Love Long Distance" is the second single and it comes with the trivial but harmless video above.

YO LA TENGO - Here to Fall

Yo La Tengo return to hypnotic on their latest single "Here To Fall", taken from the forthcoming album Popular Songs. This new video for the track will at times nearly put you in a trance or just flat out give you the chills. Love the crispy cassette tape at the end.
