FREDRIK - Trilogi

Fredrik - Locked in the Basement [mp3]

Now a sextet, Swedish electronic band Fredrik is back with sophomore LP Trilogi, released earlier this week.
"In a lot of ways, Trilogi picks up right where Fredrik’s debut, Na Na Ni, ended. Fredrik Hultin's smoothly volatile voice and earnest northern european folk compositions sit indistinguishably on top of Lindefelt's brushed, shadowy rhythms and trademark electronica-before-electricity washes of sound."
New video for "Viskra" below, directed by Dutch filmmaker Iris Piers. Well worth watching!

Last fall the band released the three track ep Polaurora and they have a 7" available now at Insound. "Daysleeping" video and live dates below. More on the band here.

You can stream said tracks here. Check out this cool teaser:

BLONDES - Spanish Fly

Blondes are the duo of Zach Steinman and Sam Haar. They are a fairly mysterious entity as of yet, but we know they graduated from Oberlin, but now reside in Brooklyn, and have this killer ambient track called "Spanish Fly". If in NY, catch their Brooklyn gig with Morgan Geist (Metro Area) at Littlefield on February 11th.

New GORILLAZ - Plastic Beach

Gorillaz have unleashed the details of their new album! Plastic Beach will be released in the US on March 9th, preceded by the first single "Stylo" on January 26th. The new track, which features Mos Def and Bobby Womack, is already floating out there somewhere. Speaking of floating, check out this statement regarding the new LP via a press release:

"The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet."

The new LP features a plethora of guest contributors, including Lou Reed, Little Dragon, Mick Jones, Snoop Dogg, and De La Soul.
