CSS Poised for a US Hit?

CSS may be on track to repeat Feist's recent success, which was propelled by lending her track '1,2,3,4' to a wildly popular Apple commercial. After her song appeared in the ad she hit the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Now 'Music is My Hot, Hot Sex', a track from CSS' 2005 debut album, appears in the new iPod Touch commercial, currently in heavy rotation on US television. Last week the track debuted on Billboard's Pop 100 chart and is currently #24 on iTunes. It is not unlikely that the band may have a big hit on their hands, which would undoubtedly shoot them to a new level here in the States.

CSS are currently in Brazil, working on new songs for their forthcoming sophomore album before heading back out on the road in December for a special UK Christmas tour with Justice and Metronomy.

CMJ Report: Justice

Justice has quite a religious following, as was wildy apparent at Terminal 5 on Saturday night. From the moment the black sheets were pulled from the amp towers, to the now infamous light-up cross flicking on at the show's start, the crowd's sheer excitement was unparalleled - and that was just the beginning. The wall to wall crowd of hipsters, electroheads, and straight-up music lovers danced deliriously, many with glowsticks in hand, loving every mili-second of the duo's infectious electronic set.

It seems like a hard task for a pair of dj's to stand at their decks for an hour and a half and pull off an entertaining show. But Justice made it look easy with the help of flawless sound and lighting, which greatly enhanced the overall show. And when they finished their encore, the feverish crowd began singing the duo's most famous song in hopes that they would once again return to the stage.

"Because we are your friends
you'll never be alone again
well come on well come on
well come on well come on"

After many, many rounds of the chorus being chanted, the houselights finally came up and it was all over.

DIGITALISM - 'Idealistic'

'Idealistic' is the new single from German electro duo DIGITALISM. If you haven't heard the debut album "Idealism", it is one of the best electronic albums of the year, right up there with the 2007 debuts from SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO and JUSTICE. The new single is available September 17 and will feature remixes from WHOMADEWHO, A-TRAK, and HYSTEREO.

Countdown to Coachella part 4 - 8 Days...

Here goes...round 4 of I Am So Fucking Upset That I'm Not Going To Coachella! Enjoy...

PETER, BJORN AND JOHN
Who doesn't want to see these guys, possibly the most hyped band in the blogosphere in the last year. I have no idea what their live show is like, but I'd go just to see if Victoria Bergsman shows up to do "Young Folks". I'm often disappointed in live guest vocalist appearances when they don't show up, but nonetheless it should be a great (and very crowded) show.

BLONDE REDHEAD
I have something to admit...after years of people trying to get me into BLONDE REDHEAD, I've continually resisted, though I have no idea why. To me this is one of those bands that are supposed to be so cool to like, so you say you do, but you never really play any of their albums...well, I've finally gotten past all that and I love the new record. Now if I could only listen to a JOANNA NEWSOM album in it's entirety. We'll see.

JUSTICE
This years answer to DAFT PUNK, but without the pyramid and not quite as extensive of a catalog to draw from...I'd be at this one in a heartbeat. Get ready to dance your ass off.

GIRL TALK
Sure to be the party spectacle of the weekend! GIRL TALK has a way of creating happy anarchy wherever he opens up his laptop, inviting the masses onto the stage to the point of sheer frenzy. At least that was what it was like when I saw him in San Francisco last November. If you like to dance do not miss this one. Seriously.

KAVINSKY

So the guys over at MISSINGTOOF have been turning me on to a lot of new shit lately and they have suddenly become one of my favorite music sites. Not only do they have excellent taste in remix/electro/DJ what have you, but their site looks fucking awesome. Please visit them now and often.

One of my favorite missingtoof discoveries is KAVINSKY, an electrohead from France with an unmistakable influence from DAFT PUNK. Swirling in a sea of buzz with other hot acts like THE TEENAGERS, PONEY PONEY, SEBASTIAN and TEAM RECORDER, KAVINSKY is bound to make it big. Even current electro-masters JUSTICE chimed in on KAVINSKY'S MySpace page to compare the hype around him to that of THE CLASH back in the day. Now that's saying something.

My favorite blog in the universe BIG STEREO also wrote about KAVINSKY nearly a year ago when the "Teddyboy EP" was released. How do they do it? Always ahead of the game.

A new KAVINSKY EP- "1986" -will be released in March on Record Makers. And if you're lucky enough to live in Australia, check out the KAVINSKY/SEBASTIAN tour, also in March.
