New GIRL TALK Album on the Way

Billboard.com reports that the follow-up to Girl Talk's breakthrough album Night Ripper has been completed and should be released this year. The new album has the tentative title of Wild Peace IV: Feed the Animals, Raise the Dead, which immediately makes me ask WTF?? The album is said to be born out of his live shows.

Girl Talk is slated to perform at the inaugural All Points West Festival in Liberty State Park, NJ this August.

ALL POINTS WEST Line-up Announced!

Billboard.com is reporting that Radiohead will indeed headline the first two nights of the inaugural All Points West Festival, to be held August 8-10 at Liberty State Park, directly across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan. The festival is being presented by Goldenvoice and the masterminds of Coachella.

In less exciting news, Jack Johnson will headline the third night of the festival.

WHITE WILLIAMS - "Smoke"

Joe Williams, aka WHITE WILLIAMS is about to blow up huge. After touring with DAN DEACON and GIRL TALK for the latter part of the summer, he has gained quite the momentum via the blogosphere as he prepares to release his debut album "Smoke" on November 6th. And the fun doesn't stop there, as he will join BATTLES for five dates in the days following the album's release. If that weren't enough to get some hype brewing, White Williams will also be on hand for the CMJ Music Marathon, sharing a bill with DEERHUNTER, Dan Deacon, NO AGE, and PONYTAIL on October 17th at the Bowery Ballroom, and yes...I will certainly be there.

The first single from "Smoke" is the infectious 'New Violence', which is now available in digital form on iTunes.

Who doesn't want to see these guys, possibly the most hyped band in the blogosphere in the last year. I have no idea what their live show is like, but I'd go just to see if Victoria Bergsman shows up to do "Young Folks". I'm often disappointed in live guest vocalist appearances when they don't show up, but nonetheless it should be a great (and very crowded) show.

BLONDE REDHEAD
I have something to admit...after years of people trying to get me into BLONDE REDHEAD, I've continually resisted, though I have no idea why. To me this is one of those bands that are supposed to be so cool to like, so you say you do, but you never really play any of their albums...well, I've finally gotten past all that and I love the new record. Now if I could only listen to a JOANNA NEWSOM album in it's entirety. We'll see.

Sure to be the party spectacle of the weekend! GIRL TALK has a way of creating happy anarchy wherever he opens up his laptop, inviting the masses onto the stage to the point of sheer frenzy. At least that was what it was like when I saw him in San Francisco last November. If you like to dance do not miss this one. Seriously.

GIRL TALK BRINGS THE RIOTTT!

More on the Bring the Riottt Festival later, but the high point was definitely when mash-up DJ GIRL TALK invited hundreds of fans onto the stage for a full-on dance party. Ignoring the security guards' attempt to contain 'the riottt', Girl Talk didn't even play for 10 minutes before the venue pulled the plug and ushered him and everyone else off the stage. It was so exciting, I only wish I had made it onto the stage so I could dance around Girl Talk at his laptop. A rock star in the making!

BE THE RIOTTT!!!

Only two days left until the Riottt Festival descends on San Francisco.

I am especially excited since I live only two short blocks from the infamous Bill Graham Civic Center, where hot hot hot acts like THE RAPTURE, GIRL TALK, THE PRESETS, ASOBI SEKSU, METRIC, DEERHOOF, XIU XIU and DIPLO will be lifting the roof off of said historical building.
