LE CASTLE VANIA

I've been a fan of Le Castle Vania since his incredible remix of Snowden's "Black Eyes" back in 2006. The talented remixer from Atlanta has been busy in the last year with loads of remixes and his collaboration with Blake Miller of Moving Units on a new project, Lies in Disguise. In fact, Lies in Disguise are playing tonight (and every night this week) at the Winter Music Conference in Miami.

Le Castle Vania has an ep in the works, but in the meantime check out his brand new remix of "Hey You" by Kill the Noise, an electro killer for the dancefloor.

MALAJUBE / SNOWDEN at The Mercury Lounge

Malajube

MALAJUBE definitely stole the show at The Mercury Lounge Sunday night. Their set was very layered and complex and lead singer Julien Mineau has a wonderful charisma onstage, singing in a French rock n roll fervor. I wasn't really expecting to be so impressed with this band, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Snowden

I had really went to see the headliner SNOWDEN who were also really good, yet sound issues plagued lead singer Jordan Jeffares' performance. It was such a shame, because he was clearly giving a lot, but his vocals were too muddled into the mix. The highlights were an inspired cover of THE ZOMBIES' classic "Time of the Season" and the standout track from Anti Anti, "Black Eyes".

All in all, pretty good show.

SNOWDEN

Over the last few weeks, I've grown somewhat addicted to this band's first full-length album, "Anti-Anti". Ironically, the first time I heard SNOWDEN was via the LE CASTLE VANIA remix of 'Black Eyes', which takes their moody sound and turns it into a shakin' dance anthem. I became even more intrigued when I discovered the title track and recent single, 'Anti-Anti'. I was surprised to learn that a band who embodies the sounds of JOY DIVISION, INTERPOL, and ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN actually hails from Atlanta, Georgia.

SNOWDEN are touring the U.S. again real soon. I am hoping to catch their show with MALAJUBE at The Mercury Lounge, NYC on Feb. 18. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning. For more tour dates or to listen to some tracks, visit their MySpace page.
