LADY GAGA Rocks, But the Grammys Are Dead To Me

Lady Gaga opened the Grammy's this year with the theatricality we have all come to know and love from America's greatest current pop star. The performance - a medley of "Poker Face", "Speechless" and "Your Song" - featured a riveting duet and duel of the keys with Elton John. From there it was downhill the rest of the evening. Don't even get me started about the Best New Artist category. I still can't understand how Silversun Pickups even qualify in this category, but then Zac Brown beats out MGMT and The Ting Tings for the award! My nominees for this category would have looked like this:

The Antlers
Fever Ray
Lady Gaga
Neon Indian
The XX

"Orbiting around the themes of drug induced heartbreak, weary afternoons, and lost chances, this music provides a lush soundtrack to the deadbeat exploits of teenage ennui. Neon Indian's bedroom ballads have already forged the upcoming Psychic Chasms, the debut full-length, set for release this Fall."

WOODS, JEREMY JAY, NEON INDIAN

It's a slow week at The Sky Report due to an overwhelming amount of work elsewhere, but big things are in the pipeline for this summer. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, I'm currently obsessed with these tracks.

Woods are another lo-fi band from Brooklyn. On first listen it was a bit off-putting, but now I can't get this damn song out of my head.

Also...

"Where Could We Go Tonight", the closing track from Jeremy Jay's new album Slow Dance...

And...

"Should Have Taken Acid With You" by Neon Indian is pure sweetness to my ears.
