MARTIN GORE DJ Set
Tonight at Hiro Ballroom

Martin Gore of Depeche Mode is DJing at Hiro Ballroom tonight! I had no idea and will probably not make it, but I'm sure it will be awesome. Tickets are $15.

Meanwhile, a new Depeche Mode album is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2009 release. The band is rumored to have been working on new material at Gore's home studio in Santa Barbara last May. The new disc is being produced by Ben Hillier.

YAZ Afterparty with KIM of THE PRESETS

You know I'll be at Terminal 5 on Thursday night to see the historical reunion performance by quintessential 80's electro-pop duo Yaz. But I'll also be swinging by Hiro Ballroom afterwards for the after party, featuring a DJ set by KIM of The Presets. It all starts at 10:00 pm and it's FREE!, but you have to RSVP at gbh.tv to solidify your entrance. See you there!

MOBY - 'Disco Lies'

"Disco Lies" is the second music video from Moby's forthcoming dance album Last Night. The track is simply hot, recalling Moby's seminal Everything is Wrong album. The blaxploitation-style video expresses Moby's long-time stance as an animal activist, depicting a baby chick who grows up to exact revenge on Colonel Sanders.

"Last Night is basically a love letter to dance music in New York City. What I love about the New York approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the dj's, and the people in the bars and clubs. In making Last Night, I essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in New York City and condense it into a 65 minute long album." -Moby

Speaking of a night out in New York City, Moby will be spinning records TONIGHT alongside Mixhell (of Brazil) and Drop The Lime (who recently opened for Robyn with an amazing DJ set). The night of dance music is the latest in Moby's series of Degenerate parties at Hiro Ballroom in Manhattan.

Last Night is due April 1 from Mute Records.

MOBY Starts Monthly Dance Party, Names New Album

"I wanted to start a fun and dirty and eclectic night of dance music, called 'Degenerates'", says MOBY of his new monthly dance party, which debuts Thursday October 11th at Hiro Ballroom. Joining Moby on the DJ bill are JUAN MACLEAN, Moby's former roommate STRETCH ARMSTRONG and ALEX FRANKEL of DFA.

"When I was growing up in Manhattan in the early 80's you could go dancing anywhere: Area, Fallout Shelter, Danceteria, etc. Now in 2007, your options for a degenerate night out dancing in Manhattan are more limited."

Moby's website says that Degenerates "will also be a testing ground for new Moby material". Maybe he will debut some tracks from his "disco divas"-inspired new album, now titled "Last Nite", due from Mute Records next spring.

$5 tickets are available at www.gbh.tv or at ticketweb.com.
