New DEPECHE MODE - "Wrong"

Depeche Mode have released the first video from their forthcoming 12th studio album Sounds of the Universe. The new single "Wrong" is classic Depeche Mode. Nothing shocking, nothing new, but really good. The video on the other hand is amazing. It was directed by Patrick Daughters, known for his memorable work on videos by Feist (1,2,3,4) and Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Maps). Check out the disturbing video below.

Sounds of the Universe hits stores April 21st via Capitol/Mute.

DEPECHE MODE Reveal Details on
Sounds of the Universe

Depeche Mode will release their 12th studio album Sounds of the Universe on April 21st. An insider told me the band were keen on vintage electronic equipment during the recording of the new LP. I'm very intrigued. The first single "Wrong" hits the monetary world on March 9th. The band will hit the road May 10th, kicking off a world tour in Tel Aviv, with a North American trek to follow.

[EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that DM are not using vintage equipment, but rather brand new, state of the art equipment.  Sorry for the mistake.]

Sounds of the Universe tracklist:

In Chains
Hole To Feed
Wrong
Fragile Tension
Little Soul
In Sympathy
Peace
Come Back
Spacewalker
Perfect
Miles Away/The Truth Is
Jezebel

MARTIN GORE DJ Set
Tonight at Hiro Ballroom

Martin Gore of Depeche Mode is DJing at Hiro Ballroom tonight! I had no idea and will probably not make it, but I'm sure it will be awesome. Tickets are $15.

Meanwhile, a new Depeche Mode album is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2009 release. The band is rumored to have been working on new material at Gore's home studio in Santa Barbara last May. The new disc is being produced by Ben Hillier.

DAVE GAHAN - "Hourglass"; New Single 'Kingdom'

DAVE GAHAN has a sophomore solo album on the way titled "Hourglass" and it will be released on October 23. The first single is called 'Kingdom' and while I instantly like it, it's hard for Gahan not to sound very similar to his famous band (even without Martin Gore). But whether it's a Dave Gahan release or a DEPECHE MODE one, I'm on board.

Hourglass tracklist:

Saw Something
Kingdom
Deeper And Deeper
21 Days
Miracles
Use You
Insoluble
Endless
A Little Lie
Down

Check out the video for 'Kingdom'...
