FAN DEATH - "Veronica's Veil"

Nu-disco refuses to die. Following a series of artists who have redefined the genre (Glass Candy, Chromatics, Hercules & Love Affair), now comes Fan Death, a female duo who have recently taken the blog world by storm with their bouncy, string-laden single "Veronica's Veil".

Not much is known about these girls yet, but they also just remixed this new track by Ladyhawke...

You can also get Erol Alkan's fantastic remix of "Veronica's Veil" here.

Reader's Choice - Breakthrough Artist of 2007 - GRIZZLY BEAR / THE TEENAGERS

It's a tie!

A few of you spoke, and the consensus is that Brooklyn-based Grizzly Bear tied with the Parisian hipster band The Teenagers for The Sky Report's Reader's Choice poll for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Other artists ranking high in the poll were Panda Bear, Deerhunter, Glass Candy, and Battles.

GLASS CANDY - 'Digital Versicolor'

Glass Candy has been consistently offering new tracks to download on their Myspace page in the last few months and now there's a whole new batch, including 'Life After Sundown' and 'Digital Versicolor', the latter of which also has a brand new video. Check out both mp3's and the video below.

GLASS CANDY w/ METRONOMY at Studio B

I am heartbroken that I will be out of town when GLASS CANDY (Portland) and METRONOMY (London) descend on Studio B in Brooklyn on August 10th. Is there anyone out there who a) is already going to the show b) owns a digital camera and wants to take pictures, and c) can put complete sentences together and would like to write about it for The Sky Report? If you ARE that person, write to me at scotjames101@yahoo.com. This show will be "off the chain"!

Glass Candy - Etheric Device (live in my hometown, Modesto, CA)

Metronomy - Trick or Treatz (music video)

GLASS CANDY - "Rolling Down the Hills"

Everyone is blogging about this one right now, but I can't stop myself. The latest track from Portland's GLASS CANDY is so good! A smooth 70's lounge track, complete with horns, sexy vocals and vinyl scratches to add a more vintage feel.

To see what I mean, head over to Big Stereo. They've got the track for you to download, plus tour dates and more.

MIRAGE

Maybe Italians really Do do it better. First SALLY SHAPIRO now the Italo synth duo MIRAGE.

Not much can be found about these guys yet, What we do know is that MIRAGE is comprised of singer Simone Adonai and Achille Vettesi on Synths. They seem to share company with acts like FARAH, CHROMATICS, and GLASS CANDY. Four tracks are currently available for download on their Myspace page , the highlight of which is 'Looking for Love'.

Anyone know anything more about them? Hit me up!
