JAVELIN - No Más

Brooklyn duo Javelin have been on heavy rotation around here lately. Their self-titled ep was released last year and features the terribly infectious "Lindsay Brohan". Now they have a new LP called No Mas and you can buy it now at Luaka Bop. Watch this episode of xlr8r's Tune In An Afternoon, where the duo construct the track "Me Thing Drawing Me".

NITE JEWEL + DAM FUNK = NITE FUNK

Recent "Guest List" contributor Nite Jewel has been working with Dam Funk and Haunted Graffiti's Cole M Greif-Neill on a new project, appropriately titled Nite Funk. XLR8R TV has a great "making of" segment that really shows you the process of collaboration and recording. Good, good stuff.

The first track to emerge from the collaboration is "Am I Gonna Make It". Check it out:

Members of THE SKY REPORT Featured in XLR8R Magazine!

Check out pages 28 & 29 of the May 2007 issue of XLR8R Magazine for a cameo appearance by 100% of The Sky Report crew. Jacob Lane (artist, botanical technician, because we are all about plants and trees to offset Global Warming), Scot Bowman (writer/DJ), and Amos Jarrell (photographer) are all visually represented, and Derek Morris for TROPHY did the design and layout. This makes the illustration 100% The Sky Report! Please buy a copy and write in about the graphic!!!

P.S. Trophy will be the featured designer for the ongoing series "What Is It?" by XLR8R editor Vivian Host throughout the rest of the year.

ELLEN ALLIEN & MISS KITTIN @ Studio B Saturday Night

XLR8R is presenting ELLEN ALLIEN and MISS KITTIN at Studio B tomorrow night and The Sky Report will be there! Drop me a line if you're going too! Also on the bill is LAUREN FLAX, who I don't really know anything about, but it should be a great show nonetheless.

XLR8R Issue 104 - Altered States

The new issue of XLR8R is one to grab. The issue includes a full investigation of "The Return of Psychedelia" in electro music (New Rave? 'wink-wink'), as well as a feature on Klaxons and a shout-out to hot NY (formerly SF) graphic designer Jon Santos.

XLR8R has, over the years, become one of my favorite resources for new electro music. Editor Vivian Host always has her finger on something, living for the next pulse in the evolution of cutting-edge beats.

Check out Derek Morris' designs for the magazine: Trophy
