LYKKE LI Played (le) Poisson Rouge

Lykke recently played the new Manhattan venue (le) Poisson Rouge, inspiring the small but crowded cabaret with her promising live presence. Commanding her way through tracks such as "Dance Dance Dance", "I'm Good, I'm Gone", "Little Bit", and "Breaking It Up", Lykke Li proved she is serious. Her music is the type that could be easily written off by music snobs as trite pop, but for real, she is a songstress, destined to be heard.

It has been pointed out that this would probably be the last time to see this talent in such a unique, tiny space. Did I mention it was also in the round? This just added to the special experience of this performance. Not to mention the fact that the setlist also included covers of Vampire Weekend and A Tribe Called Quest.

Setlist:

Dance, Dance, Dance
Let It Fall
I'm Good, I'm Gone
Hanging High
Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

LYKKE LI & EL PERRO DEL MAR La Blogotheque's Take Away Shows

While on a tour stop in San Francisco, fellow Swedes Lykke Li and El Perro del Mar teamed up with La Blogotheque for a series of "Take Away Shows". Here we have Lykke Li doing "Dance Dance Dance" and El Perro del Mar doing "Somebody's Baby". These videos make me homesick for San Francisco, as they were literally shot right around the corner from my old apartment.

I love La Blogotheque's cinéma vérité shooting style, which allows you to see the artists in a realistic way, performing acoustic or accapella versions of their songs.

CELERY MOON - Good Morning Stardust V mix

I don't know who Celery Moon is or what his/her story is, but the new "Good Morning Stardust V" mix is off the hook! Celery Moon has something to do with Misshapes, as his/her blog is hosted on their site. He/She has incredible taste in dance music, as this mix features seamless transitions between great artists like Ladyhawke, Bjork, The Black Ghosts, Lykke Li, Simian Mobile Disco, Felix da Housecat, Kleerup, Cut Copy, Moby, and In Flagranti, with remixed efforts by talent such as Hercules & Love Affair, Calvin Harris, Holy Ghost, Alan Braxe, and (again) Cut Copy.

At press time, whilst in the pursuit of knowledge about Celery Moon, we were only told he/she was currently shooting on location in Hawaii. I have no idea. More info (or the lack of such) at Celery Moon's blog.

Now get the goods...

LYKKE LI - 'I'm Good, I'm Gone'

Lykke Li has a new video, just in time for the US release of her debut album. Youth Novels will finally hit North America on May 6. In the new video for "I'm Good, I'm Gone" Lykke busts a move, as do bodybuilders, old women and a pair of little girls. It's all very cool, actually. Check it out...

LYKKE LI - 'I'm Good, I'm Gone'

This is just awesome!! Lykke Li has just released this DIY video of herself singing 'I'm Good, I'm Gone', with a little help from Robyn and members of The Concretes and Shout Out Louds. It's like a Swedish power group or something. Most importantly, though, is how the video showcases the budding young talent of Li herself. Keep an eye on this girl. She's bound to do wonderful things in the near future.

LYKKE LI - 'Little Bit'

Thanks to Brooklyn Vegan for this one. Lykke Li is a 21 year-old pop singer from Sweden. In the vein of Robyn and Annie, her music is cute and catchy, with just a dash of edginess to make her cool. She has a new EP available in Sweden and you can buy it here. Her new video 'Little Bit' is below and I love it. She has a free show Monday at The Knitting Factory and a regular show Tuesday at Mercury Lounge. Bjorn (of Peter Bjorn & John) is producing her full length debut.
