Reader's Choice - Breakthrough Artist of 2007 - GRIZZLY BEAR / THE TEENAGERS

It's a tie!

A few of you spoke, and the consensus is that Brooklyn-based Grizzly Bear tied with the Parisian hipster band The Teenagers for The Sky Report's Reader's Choice poll for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Other artists ranking high in the poll were Panda Bear, Deerhunter, Glass Candy, and Battles.

THE TEENAGERS - 'Starlett Johansson'

The Teenagers' debut full length is tentatively set for a February 2008 release, via Merok/XL. And for those of us who have been dying to see these French hipsters live on this side of the Atlantic, they'll be touching down in January for a brief tour - LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, New York and Philadelphia, to be exact. In the meantime, enjoy the video for the new single 'Starlett Johansson'.

THE TEENAGERS - 'Make It Happen' etc.

French dirty-cutesy-hedonistic-electro trio THE TEENAGERS may very well be the most hyped act of 2007 and they still don't even have a proper album out yet. But, according to my favorite west coast blog missingtoof.com, that is about to change. The boys at the toof hint at a full length album to soon be released on Merok Records and they also offer up a trio of exclusive new tracks, all rumoured to be on the highly anticipated debut LP. Still no word on exactly when it will be physically released, but I for one cannot sleep, anxiously awaiting its arrival.

AU REVOIR SIMONE

Who wouldn't love an all-girl indie pop band named after the infamous dinosaur scene in PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE? AU REVOIR SIMONE make dreamy music using keyboards and vintage drum machines - the kind of sounds that can perfectly lull you to sleep.

My first taste of these girls came from THE TEENAGERS remix of the forthcoming single 'Fallen Snow'. The original track will be featured on AU REVOIR SIMONE's second album to be released this spring on the Moshi Moshi label.

In the meantime, you can enjoy this seemingly homemade live video of the band walking the streets of Brooklyn, performing the track 'Stay Golden'.
